Gunmen kidnap 20 medical students in Benue
Gunmen suspected to be marauding bandits have kidnapped 20 medical and dental students of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) and University of Jos (UNIJOS) in Benue State.
The students were said to be traveling when they were ambushed by gunmen around Otukpo area of the state on Thursday.
The victims were on their way to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu, Enugu State, when they were taken.
TheCable reports that spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident.
“The students were passing through Benue to Enugu when they were abducted. An investigation is ongoing,” she was quoted as saying.
