The Inspector General of Police (IGP) mourns the passing of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Maku and Commissioner of Police (CP) Ayilara, extending condolences to their families.
According to a statement from Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Retired AIG Philip Sule Maku, who served as Commissioner of Police in Bauchi and Ebonyi States before retiring as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in ICT at Force Headquarters on December 12, 2021, passed away on August 23, 2024.
Similarly, CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara, who served in various roles including as DCP in Lagos State and later as Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, died after a brief illness on August 28, 2024.
The dedication of both senior police officers to service and integrity will always be remembered.
“Their passing is a profound loss, not just to their families but to the entire Nigeria Police Force. Their absence has left a lasting impact on all who knew them and on every life they touched throughout their distinguished careers.
On behalf of all officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the IGP extends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Retired AIG Philip Sule Maku and CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara, offering prayers for comfort during this challenging time. May their souls rest in peace,” the statement concluded.
