Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen says Galatasaray will be revitalised and ready for the Besiktas derby at home on Monday.
The Besiktas derby, also known as Istanbul derby between Galatasaray and Besiktas, will be a fierce encounter.
Galatasaray are five points ahead of Besiktas but have played a game more. If they slip up at the RAMS Park in the game and the Black and White win their outstanding fixture too, they will climb to the top of the table.
Galatasaray have scored 27 goals this season, the second-highest across the best leagues in Europe.
Besiktas on the other hand are five points behind the league leaders and find themselves in second position. The Black Eagles come into this game on the back of a huge win against Lyon in the Europa League. They will reduce the deficit to just two points provided to manage to pull off an upset against the defending champions.
The clash will pit the league’s top scorer this season Ciro Immobile who has eight goals in eight matches against Galatasaray defenders. Besiktas as well would need more than luck to deal with threats from Osimhen and Mauro Icardi.
“The Beşiktaş derby will of course be a tough match. But we are ready and will give our all. We want to get the 3 points,” Osimhen told Beyaz TV ahead of the clash.
“We will be refreshed and prepared for this match. Of course, I think we have a chance for it.”
Asked if he would score in the game, he replied:
“I don’t care if I score or not. I just want to win. The team wants to win. I think we are ready.”
The 25-year-old has been very impactful since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli this summer. The reigning African footballer of the year has scored three goals and registered five assists in six appearances for the club this season.
