Music and hype are inseparable, I enjoy doing both
Odumewu Olanrewaju Omogbolahan, better known as Labosky, is a Nigerian artist and hypeman who has made a name for himself in both Nigeria and Qatar.
Based in Qatar as the resident hypeman at the prestigious Matrix Club and Hotel, Labosky sees a deep connection between music and hype.
“Music and hype are inseparable. As a hypeman, I set the mood, raise the energy, and bridge the gap between the audience and the music. It’s not just about hyping the crowd; it’s about becoming part of the music itself, enhancing the experience for everyone,” he noted.
Labosky’s passion for both music and hype has led to a seamless blend of the two. He’s a regular at private events, weddings, and club gatherings in Qatar, while also pursuing his music career. For him, these two art forms complement each other, rather than compete.
“People often ask if hyping hinders my music career, but I view them as two sides of the same coin. Both are forms of expression, and I don’t feel the need to choose. Hyping fuels my music, and my music, in turn, fuels my energy as a hypeman.”
Labosky’s unique position in the entertainment industry has allowed him to reach a wider audience and connect with fans in both Qatar and Nigeria. His performances at events like the Nigerian Independence celebration in Qatar and during high-profile visits from DJ Dopecaesar and actress Nkechi Blessing have solidified his reputation. These experiences have reinforced his belief in the powerful synergy between music and hype.
