Golden Eaglets miss out on expanded 2025 Under 17 AFCON

The aspirations of the Golden Eaglets to play at this year’s 17 AFCON have been washed away after CAF controversially picked Gambia ahead of Nigeria to fill one of the extra slots.
Tunisia as well as the two finalists from UNIFFAC region are the three other other qualifiers as the 2025 U17 AFCON will feature 16 teams instead of 12 teams.
The competition is scheduled to be played from March to April.
Gambia finished third in WAFU A, while the Golden Eaglets were also third in WAFU B.
It is left to be seen what the other reasons were for Gambia to be considered ahead of Nigeria, the most successful team at U17 World Cup level.s
