Relief in Taraba as first rainfall of 2025 hits Jalingo

The capital of Taraba State, Jalingo, witnessed its first rainfall of the year on Thursday, ushering in the 2025 rainy season with calm weather and no known damage.

The rain, which began at approximately 7:50 am, fell steadily for more than an hour.

Unlike in previous years when the first rains were followed by heavy winds coupled with destruction, this year’s downpour was gentle, as there were no signs of flooding or structural damage across the state capital.

Residents said they were grateful and relieved over the peaceful nature of the rainfall.

“We thank God that the rain was peaceful and no form of destruction was recorded in any part of our state capital,” said Mallam Adamu Sani, a local resident.

They expressed hope that subsequent rainfall this season would follow the same peaceful pattern.
