Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has encouraged aspiring musicians to stay dedicated to God even after reaching fame and success.
The singer shared his thoughts in a recent interview with Kiss Xtra, emphasising that while hard work and self-confidence are vital, maintaining a close relationship with God is equally crucial, given the entertainment industry’s many distractions.
His remarks come at a time when many celebrities, especially Christians, have openly admitted that they stopped attending church after gaining fame.
Offering his advice, Davido stated, “My advice for up-and-coming artists is first of all, believe in yourself. I worked on my craft so much. I loved music so much that I just wanted to get better every time. When I was young, I was learning from YouTube and the people around me.
He further urged rising artistes to stay rooted in their faith despite their success, saying, “Secondly, love what you do and put God first and close, especially when you make it because there are so many distractions that can make you forget he is the reason you are here.”
