The Chief Executive Officer of Sujimoto Group, Sijibomi Ogundele, has said he would start by washing cars if he lost all his wealth and had to rebuild his life from scratch in Nigeria.
Speaking during an interview that began trending on Monday, Ogundele said he would first focus on raising enough money to meet his basic needs before gradually expanding into other businesses.
According to him, starting small and remaining diligent would enable him to build the capital needed to establish a sustainable enterprise.
“If I had to start from zero, no matter where I am, but if I’ m starting in Nigeria without anything, without connections, the first thing I’ll do is raise money because you have to eat before you survive,” he said.
Ogundele explained that he would begin by offering car-washing services and charging customers while ensuring high-quality service.
“I’ll start washing people’s cars. I’ll buy good, powerful washing materials. I won’t wash for free because I have to earn money, but I’ll be diligent. I’ll wash the car, clean the inside, and make everything spotless. Maybe I’ll wash 30 to 40 cars a day,” he said.
He estimated that washing 30 to 40 cars daily could generate about ₦ 40, 40,000 in revenue, which he would use to hire additional workers and grow the business.
“If I earn ₦ 40, 40,000 a day, that’ s about ₦ 1. 2 million a month. Then if I have five boys, that’s about ₦6 million a month. Those boys, I’ll be giving them half the money while I do the coordinating, and I’ll have them in different locations,” he said.
The property developer said that once he had built sufficient capital, he would establish a full- scale car wash before diversifying into the food business.
“When I raise enough money, maybe I’ ll open a car wash where people can come. Then I’ll go into the food business. I’ll go to the North, buy a truckload of tomatoes, bring them to Mile 12 Market, and sell them. Then I’ll buy a truckload of onions,” he said.
