Nigerian Troops Eliminate 102 Terrorists, Rescue 393 Kidnap Victims in July — DHQ

The military also disclosed that 345 suspected terrorists and criminals were arrested, while 393 kidnapped victimswere rescued during the month-long operations. The figures were presented on Friday in Abuja by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Michael Onoja, during the military’s monthly operational briefing.
According to the DHQ, military operations recorded significant gains across the country’s conflict zones. In the North-East, troops neutralised 54 terrorists, arrested 102 suspects, rescued 102 kidnapped victims, and received the surrender of 57 insurgents and their family members. In the North-West, forces under Operation Fansan Yamma killed 33 terrorists, apprehended 66 suspects, and rescued 191 abducted persons, while operations in the North-Central led to the elimination of 15 terrorists, the arrest of 148 suspects, and the rescue of 53 victims.
Military authorities further revealed that operations in the South-South and South-East also yielded positive results. Troops rescued 37 victims in the South-South and 10 victims in the South-East, while 29 suspected criminals were arrested across both regions. Security forces also recovered 59 firearms and 1,118 rounds of ammunition, describing the seizures as part of ongoing efforts to weaken criminal and terrorist networks operating across the country.
The operational update came as the Federal Government unveiled plans to strengthen security, particularly in the South-East, through the deployment of drones, CCTV surveillance systems, and other modern technologies. Government officials also announced plans to establish a shared regional security database aimed at improving intelligence gathering and coordination among security agencies in the fight against kidnapping, terrorism, armed robbery and other violent crimes.
The Defence Headquarters maintained that the Armed Forces remain committed to sustaining the offensive against insurgents, bandits and other criminal elements across Nigeria. Military authorities urged citizens to continue providing credible intelligence to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation remains vital to ongoing efforts to restore peace and improve national security.
