The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old woman over an alleged ₦42 million visa fraud after she reportedly deceived several victims with promises of securing overseas travel documents and employment opportunities. Police said the suspect was taken into custody following complaints from victims who claimed they paid large sums but never received the promised visas.

According to the police, the suspect allegedly collected about ₦42 million from multiple individuals under the pretext of processing visas and facilitating their relocation abroad. Investigators said the promises turned out to be false, prompting the victims to report the matter to law enforcement authorities, who subsequently launched an investigation that led to her arrest.

The command said detectives are working to identify other possible victims and determine whether additional suspects were involved in the alleged scheme. Police added that efforts are ongoing to recover the money reportedly obtained from the complainants, while the suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The police also advised Nigerians seeking employment or travel opportunities abroad to verify the credentials of visa agents and recruitment consultants before making payments. They urged members of the public to report suspicious activities promptly to help curb fraud and protect prospective travellers from similar scams.
