Lagos Court Awards Law Graduate ₦70m in Defamation Suit Against X User

A Lagos High Court has awarded ₦70 million in damages to a law graduate after ruling that defamatory posts published by an X (formerly Twitter) user harmed the claimant’s reputation. The court held that the online statements were false, injurious and had exposed the claimant to public ridicule, prompting the legal action that resulted in the judgment.
