Tinubu Suspends Three Permanent Secretaries Over Fake Agency

President orders arrest of alleged promoter as ICPC uncovers unauthorised agency within SGF’s office

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of George Buchi Nwabueze and the suspension of three permanent secretaries following the discovery of another alleged fake government agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. The development was disclosed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.

The suspended officials are M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah. According to the ICPC, the alleged fake entity had secured office space within the SGF complex without presidential approval, raising concerns over weaknesses in government administrative and oversight processes.

ICPC Chairman, Musa Adamu Aliyu, said the commission’s discovery emerged from its ongoing investigation into fictitious agencies and irregularities within the public sector. Nwabueze, who is alleged to be behind the entity, reportedly operated under several variations of his name, including George Nathan and George Nathan Nwabueze.

Following the briefing, President Tinubu directed that Nwabueze be arrested and ordered further scrutiny of government ministries, departments and agencies, as well as internal processes that may have allowed unauthorised entities to operate within government premises. The latest development comes amid a broaden probe into alleged fake government agencies and their inclusion in official government processes.
