Airport Police Arrest 17-Year-Old Over Alleged Sexual Assault in Abuja
Suspect allegedly lured 14-year-old girl into his room under the pretext of buying soya bean cake

The Airport Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old boy, identified as Benjamin Daniel, over the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in the Sabo Masalashi area of Bassa, Abuja. The incident reportedly occurred on August 15, 2026, and was reported by the girl’s mother at the Abuja Airport Police Division.
According to the police, Daniel, who resides in Angua Mandala, allegedly lured the girl into his room on the pretext of purchasing some of the soya bean cake she was selling. The police said he allegedly sexually assaulted her after taking her inside the room.
Following the report, the police said the victim’s parents were contacted and arrangements were made for her to receive prompt medical attention. Officers subsequently located and arrested the suspect, while his statement was obtained in the presence of his mother in line with procedures for handling juvenile suspects.
The police said measures have been put in place to safeguard the victim’s welfare while investigations continue. The suspect is expected to be brought before a juvenile court after the investigation is concluded. The Commissioner of Police, Olufunke Ogunbode, condemned the alleged assault and reaffirmed the command’s zero tolerance for sexual violence.
