ISWAP Suffers Major Blow as Troops Dismantle Camp in Adamawa

Nigerian security forces have reported a major operation against Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters in Kopre Mountain, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The operation was carried out by troops of Operation Hadin Kai, working alongside the Tactical Team of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). According to the military, the forces dismantled a terrorist camp during the operation conducted on August 27, 2026.

The military said more than 21 terrorists were neutralised, while several others escaped with injuries. The operation followed intelligence concerning the group’s presence in the mountainous area and formed part of continuing efforts to locate and rescue people abducted in the region, including victims from Mussa community and schoolchildren taken from the Lassa area.

Security forces subsequently took control of the area and dismantled the camp and associated logistics infrastructure. Authorities also reported recovering firearms and ammunition, while motorcycles, bicycles and fuel containers believed to have supported the group’s movement and logistics were destroyed.

The operation demonstrates the continued focus of Nigeria’s security forces on intelligence-led counterterrorism operations in difficult terrain across the North-East. Military officials said the mission was intended not only to disrupt the group’s presence but also to weaken its ability to maintain logistics and operate from remote locations.

Authorities have said search-and-rescue efforts will continue as security forces work to locate the abducted victims. The military also reaffirmed that Operation Hadin Kai would sustain operations aimed at dismantling terrorist strongholds and improving security across the North-East.
