The incident occurred on Thursday along the Itobe–Ochadamu Expressway, around Ojuwo Olijo in Ofu Local Government Area. The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the attack on Friday.
According to the police, the attackers emerged from the surrounding bush at about 5 p.m. and opened fire on motorists travelling along the highway. A blue Toyota Corolla was later found abandoned on the road. Police said Yunusa, who was driving the vehicle, was found dead inside, while another occupant was taken away by the attackers.
