El-Rufai drags Kaduna assembly to court over alleged diversion of N423bn
Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has dragged the state assembly to court, over a claim that his administrated diverted N423billion.
El-Rufai, who was the governor of the state from 2015 to 2023, has filed a fundamental rights suit at the Federal High Court in Kaduna.
Earlier this month, the Kaduna State House of Assembly had recommended the probe of El-Rufai over the allegation of public funds diversion and money laundering while he was in office.
The state house of assembly made the recommendation after a report by an ad hoc committee set up to investigate the state’s finances under the immediate administration headed by El-Rufai.
In the suit, el-Rufai asked the court to declare the report unconstitutional, null and void for violating his right to a fair hearing.
