Pius Anyim joins APC after 25 years in PDP

Former senate president, Pius Anyim, has met with President Bola Tinubu, after dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Anyim was the 9th president of the senate from 2000 to 2003, and also served as secretary to the government of the federation under former President, Goodluck Jonathan

The politicians recently dumped the PDP to join the APC, after 25 years as a member in the former.

Accompanying Anyim to meet with Tinubu were the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, on Wednesday.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the ex-SGF said he joined the ruling party to contribute his quota towards the country’s development.

According to Anyim, he was committed to Nigeria’s progress, stating, “There is a need that we all should put hands together to move the country forward.”

“I have a determination to be sure that the country moves on the right path and I should be available to contribute my quota.

“Contributing quota does not necessarily mean to work but to engender a conducive atmosphere for progress, I am not looking for work.

“But there is a need that given the challenges the country is facing today, we all need to put all hands on deck to make the country move forward.

“The country is passing through turbulent times and it is the duty of all patriots to ensure a peaceful atmosphere,” he said.
