My EP is about happy, sad moments – singer, Jelly Bee

Jelly Bee's musical journey didn't begin on a gravy train

A Sierra Leonean singer, Betty Lamboi also known as Jelly Bee, is set to make a mark in the African music scene. The rising artiste is wrapping up her next body of work, an EP titled “Sappy” in the coming weeks.

Jelly Bee, who describes herself as a teacher, preacher and entertainer, said she does songs of hope, love and peace, while teaching life’s lessons, spreading happiness and positivity.

On the inspiration behind “Sappy “, she shares, “I was inspired by real life experiences and the society as a whole. The song is a mix of African and European sounds which makes it unique. My sound and style of music is totally different and uncommon, as is evident in ‘Sappy'”.

Jelly Bee’s musical journey didn’t begin on a gravy train, she took the bus on foot having run from pillar to post to have a back seat. All she had was passion and a dream, which has germinated into a fruitful tree.

“The journey was tough, very tough because you have to deal with a lot of people; producers, DJs, bloggers/promoters and dancers. You also have to deal with sleepless nights, trainings/practices, health issues, people’s expectations, financial issues and so on. Those who have shaped my life are my family, close friends and current management – ABangz Originals”.

Jelly Bee’s life took a dramatic turn when ABangz Originals came into the picture and the singer was given a platform to explore her creative arsenal. The result is a single which took Africa by storm titled “Better Than”. From there, there was no stopping this Sierra Leonean firebrand who dreams of collaborations with Shadow Boxer, Drizilik, Natasha, Davido, Olamide, Sarkodie and many more
