BlackRock Accumulates Over $3.1 Billion in Bitcoin and Ethereum in Eight Days

The world's largest asset manager reportedly added billions of dollars worth of Bitcoin and Ethereum through its exchange-traded funds as institutional demand returned to the crypto market.

BlackRock has reportedly accumulated more than $3.1 billion worth of Bitcoin and Ethereum over eight consecutive days, highlighting renewed institutional interest in digital assets. According to data cited from Arkham Intelligence, BlackRock’s crypto-focused investment products significantly increased their holdings during the latest market recovery.

The company’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) reportedly acquired approximately 22,722 Bitcoin, valued at around $2.2 billion during the eight-day period. At the same time, BlackRock’s Ethereum-focused ETF, ETHA, accumulated roughly 385,633 Ether, worth about $961 million, bringing the combined value of the purchases to approximately $3.16 billion.

The buying activity comes as Bitcoin experienced a strong recovery, recently climbing above $80,000 amid renewed demand for alternative assets. Institutional inflows into Bitcoin ETFs have also accelerated, with BlackRock’s IBIT accounting for a significant share of recent inflows across the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF market.

BlackRock’s growing involvement reflects a broader shift in institutional sentiment toward cryptocurrencies. The company’s head of digital assets, Robbie Mitchnick, recently argued that concerns surrounding government debt, deficits and currency debasement could strengthen Bitcoin’s long-term appeal as an alternative store of value.

While the recent buying spree demonstrates renewed confidence from institutional investors, cryptocurrency markets remain highly volatile. Large ETF inflows can influence market sentiment, but they do not guarantee continued price gains. Still, BlackRock’s reported accumulation of billions of dollars in Bitcoin and Ethereum underlines the increasingly important role that major financial institutions are playing in the digital-asset market.
