DSS Rescues Kidnap Victim, Neutralises Two Suspects in Imo
Security operatives recover two high-calibre weapons and ammunition during operation in Orlu
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Imo State Command, working with other security agencies and local vigilantes, have rescued a 29-year-old kidnap victim, Ibeabuchi Adibenma, in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State. Adibenma was reportedly abducted on August 18, 2026, around Afor-Ogidi Market in Isiala Amaifeke Community while returning from the International Market, Umuna, Orlu.
According to the DSS, the kidnappers, who were reportedly operating on two motorcycles, intercepted the victim’s vehicle and forced him to an undisclosed location. The suspects subsequently contacted his family and demanded N15 million as ransom for his release.
A coordinated security operation launched in the early hours of August 20 led operatives to Ihioma Community, where the victim was rescued. Two suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate were reportedly neutralised during the operation, while security personnel recovered two high-calibre weapons and ammunition.
The rescued victim was taken into protective custody before being reunited with his family. The operation highlights the growing collaboration between security agencies and local vigilante groups in tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes in Imo State, with residents commending the security personnel for disrupting criminal networks in the area.
