European stock markets tumble on opening as US


European stock markets tumble in early trading, following stock market slumps across Asia
Shortly after opening, the Dax index in Germany was down almost 10%, while the FTSE 100 in London was down almost 6%
The Shanghai Composite was down more than 8% at one point, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng down almost 13%
Monday’s losses follow global slumps last week – in my 20 years covering the Asian stock market, this is one of the biggest continuous sell-offs I’ve seen, writes our Asia business correspondent Mariko Oi
