Father Cries for Justice After Losing Four Children in Three Days

A grieving father in Benue State is demanding a thorough police investigation after four of his children died within days of each other under circumstances the family describes as deeply suspicious.

A family in Amufu community, Edumoga, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State has been thrown into mourning following the deaths of four children within three days. Their father, Emmanuel Ochayi, said the children fell ill and died between August 20 and 23, leaving the family searching for answers about what caused the tragedy.

According to the father, the children reportedly became ill days after consuming a soft drink allegedly given to them by a relative. He has raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding their deaths and is calling for a comprehensive investigation. However, the actual cause of death has not yet been officially established.

The tragedy has attracted growing concern within the community, with the Edumoga Youths Association petitioning the Benue State Commissioner of Police and demanding an urgent investigation. The group described the circumstances surrounding the deaths as suspicious and called for the relevant individuals to be questioned.

Community representatives have also requested medical examinations, including post-mortem and toxicology tests, to determine what actually caused the deaths. Police authorities confirmed that the matter had been reported at the local police division, while the investigation is expected to establish the facts surrounding the case.

The grieving father and members of the community are now appealing for justice and transparency as they await the outcome of the investigation. The case remains under inquiry, and no individual has been legally found responsible for the deaths.
