Netanyahu’s home ‘targeted’ in drone attack

Israel says a drone was launched toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s house on Saturday morning.

Netanyahu and his wife were not in the building, and there were no causalities, the prime minister’s office said.

It was not immediately clear who the mastermind of the drone was, but earlier, the Israeli military said 55 rockets were launched from Lebanon into northern Israel.

While some were intercepted, others landed in open areas, the military added.

The attack comes just days after Israel killed Yahya Sinwar, Hamas leader, during a military operation in the Gaza Strip.

Sinwar was believed to be the architect of the Hamas attacks on Israel last year.

The IDF said his death was the culmination of a yearlong manhunt.

Netanyahu said Sinwar’s death was the “beginning of the end” for Hamas, but added that the war “is not yet over”.

Following the confirmation of Sinwar’s death, Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group and Hamas ally in Lebanon, vowed to escalate fighting against Israel.

The latest drone attacks on Israel were not immediately claimed by Hezbollah, which has been trading fire with Israel since last October.
