Reality TV star Phyna has opened up about her difficult childhood and how she started fending for herself at a very young age.
She says that she was given to her aunt at age three and grew up working in her aunt’s restaurant ….
She also disclosed that she missed two classes while accompanying her father from one hospital to another after he was involved in an accident.
Phyna said her parents later advised her to learn a handwork because furthering her education seemed impossible at the time, and that was when she decided it was time to hustle.
She said: “Growing up, for me, it wasn’t really easy, so let me start from scratch. So, the thing is, I actually grew up with my aunts, my dad’s elder sister, in Auchi, and my aunt sells food. It’s a restaurant. Now, imagine a young girl in a restaurant at a very tender age. I was given to my aunty at 3…. I was 3, so at 3, I was already in a restaurant, serving more of men.
And there was a point my dad had an accident, and they needed somebody to be with him at the hospital. I think I was in… I just finished my JSS3 then, and I had to go with my dad from one hospital to another, and that cost me SS1 and 2. I never attended SS1 and 2.
On coming back, they said I should go back. I was like, I’ll join my mates in SS3. They gave me a series of exams; I wrote them, and I passed. Then my parents were like, the way it is now, they think I should go and learn a handwork because furthering is highly impossible. That was when I realized that, okay, dem don born me , dem don born me. It’s time to hustle.
