The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has foiled a suspected robbery operation and recovered a firearm during a security operation in the state. The intervention followed intelligence received by the police concerning the planned activities of suspected criminals.

Police operatives reportedly moved to the area after receiving the information and engaged the suspects. The operation disrupted the planned robbery, while the suspects reportedly fled the scene, leaving behind a firearm recovered by the officers.

The recovered weapon has been taken into police custody as investigations continue. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspects and determine whether they are connected to other criminal activities in the area.

The police command said it would continue intelligence-led operations aimed at preventing robbery and other violent crimes across Akwa Ibom. Residents were also urged to provide useful information that could assist security agencies in identifying criminal elements.
