Stop calling me ‘Mo’ — Movie Executive Mo Abudu warns
Media mogul and EbonyLife CEO Mosunmola Abudu, better known as Mo Abudu, has made it clear that she does not appreciate younger people casually addressing her by her first name.
Speaking during a conversation with Toke Makinwa on Toke Moments, the film executive described herself as “very traditional,” explaining that her upbringing by her grandmother in Ondo shaped her views on respect and how younger people should address their elders.
When Toke asked if she was big on people calling her “Aunty,” Mo did not hold back.
“I am very traditional. I was brought up in Ondo by my grandmother. You can’t be calling me by my first name anyhow. I won’t take it!” she said.
Mo also responded to claims by some who have described her as a “shark” in business, arguing that she would probably be labelled differently if she were a man.
“If I were a man, they wouldn’t say I was a shark. They’re going to say she’s an astute businesswoman,” she said, adding that some people play the victim despite knowing they failed to do what was expected of them.
On relationships, the 61-year-old media executive said “nobody can break my heart,” insisting that heartbreak is no longer something she worries about at her age.
She added that she would prefer to date someone her age or older, emphasising that for her to respect a partner, “you must have achieved something.”
