Anthropic IPO Valuation Could Reach $2 Trillion

Investors are reportedly expecting Anthropic to pursue a record-breaking valuation as the Claude maker's revenue growth accelerates and it prepares for a potential public listing.

Anthropic is heading toward what could become one of the biggest technology IPOs ever, with investors reportedly expecting the company to seek a valuation of $2 trillion or more when it goes public. The company confidentially filed for a U.S. IPO in June, putting it ahead of rival OpenAI in the race toward the public markets.

The dramatic valuation expectations are being driven largely by Anthropic’s rapid revenue growth. Reuters reports that bankers and investors are examining forecasts of roughly $190 billion to $200 billion in annual revenue by 2028, compared with a reported $47 billion annualized revenue run rate in May. Such forecasts imply an extremely aggressive growth trajectory and are central to the argument for a very high IPO valuation.

Anthropic’s Claude platform has become a major competitor in the generative-AI market, particularly in enterprise applications and software development. The company has been investing heavily in computing infrastructure, AI models and talent to keep pace with demand. Those investments are expensive, but investors are betting that Anthropic can eventually convert its rapid revenue growth into stronger margins as its technology scales.

The potential $2 trillion valuation would put Anthropic among the world’s most valuable technology companies and could surpass the valuation at which SpaceX went public earlier this year. However, the figure remains an investor expectation rather than a confirmed IPO valuation. Anthropic has not finalized the terms of its offering, and the eventual price will depend on market conditions, financial disclosures and investor demand.

Anthropic’s potential IPO also reflects a much bigger shift in the technology industry. AI companies that were once valued primarily on future potential are now moving toward public markets, where investors will demand clearer evidence of revenue growth, profitability and sustainable business models. If Anthropic achieves anything close to the valuation being discussed, its debut could become a major test of whether public markets believe the enormous growth expectations surrounding frontier AI companies are realistic.
