PSG back on negotiation table for Osimhen

French champions Paris Saint-Germain, have reportedly returned to the negotiating table for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.

PSG were the first team to approach Napoli for the reigning African footballer of the year, but the Parc des Princes outfit were said to have left the talks after the Partenopei insisted on 130 million euros for their prized asset.

The release clause included in the contract renewal entered into by the Nigeria international last year, has been the bane of the deal so far, as Premier League giants Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United; all of who have enquired about the 25-year-old have been put off by the price tag, with president Aurelio de Laurentiis showing no signs of going lower.

More so, Osimhen’s struggles with performance last season, unlike the penultimate campaign, has also not instilled the confidence in teams, as the Eagles star only managed 15 league goals in a disastrous campaign for his club.

However, in a twist as revealed by Area Napoli on Monday, the Luis Enrique side is back for the reigning African footballer of the year, as they have not found any suitable player capable of replacing Kylian Mbappe, who left the club on a free transfer to Real Madrid at the end of last term.

“The French club could be the final destination of Victor Osimhen, the Parisians are looking for a striker. Victor Osimhen ‘s future could pass through PSG , the French club has not yet acquired a worthy successor to Mbappé. According to today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport in Paris, a week after the restart (July 15), no one has yet been found who can, at least in a small way, not make us miss Kylian Mbappé.

“Osimhen has returned forcefully among the objectives of the French champions. Luis Enrique, after all, needs goals, lots of them, to replace Mbappé. The two centre-forwards in the squad, Gonçalo Ramos and Kolo Muani, do not entirely convince him. Starting with the Frenchman, who Lucho wants to send to the door, disappointed by a season in which the Bondy striker, bought for 95 million a year ago from Eintracht Frankfurt, ended with a paltry 8 goals scored,” it said.
