‘Enemies of Kano’ hired hoodlums to take away Ganduje’s corruption documents – Kano Gov

Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf, has claimed that “enemies of Kano” hired suspected hoodlums to take away court documents incriminating his predecessor, Abdullahi Ganduje, during the recent #EndBadGovernance protest.

While the #EndBadGovernance protest was largely peaceful in the south, public buildings, including a court in Kano, were broken into during the protest, which was characterised by looting and destruction in some parts of the country.

Ganduje, a former governor of the state, has allegations of corruption levelled against him, members of his family, and former aides.

While assessing the damage done to the court on Wednesday, Yusuf said the looting was done to help the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman escape justice.

“It is very unfortunate that enemies of Kano state hired undesirable elements to vandalize one of the historic public buildings with a mission of averting corruption charges against the national chairman of APC and former governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family, and his aides,” Sunusi Tofa, spokesperson to the governor, quoted him as saying.

Yusuf put the loss from the destruction at N1 billion, adding that the office of the chief judge was ransacked by the hoodlums.

The governor said his administration would continue to protect the lives and properties of residents in Kano.
