Nudity, sex roles not for me – Sophia Williams
While her career is thriving, Williams maintains certain boundaries in her craft
Sophia Williams, a multifaceted talent in Nollywood, has made a triumphant return to the spotlight after a brief hiatus.
Known for her acting prowess, filmmaking skills, and entrepreneurial ventures, Williams shares insights into her journey with Saturday Sun, revealing the kind of roles she will not accept to play.
Addressing her absence from the silver screen, Williams said, “I wasn’t away. I just took a break to focus on my businesses. Managing multiple ventures in Nigeria is quite demanding. While I had many offers, I simply couldn’t commit to acting roles at the time. But now, I’m ready to return before my fans disappear!”
During her hiatus, Williams expanded her creative horizons by producing her own films, including notable titles like The Accusation and The Engagement. Having started producing in 2015, she’s achieved significant success in this area.
While her career is thriving, Williams maintains certain boundaries in her craft. When asked about roles she wouldn’t consider, she firmly states, “I can’t take on any role that involves sex or nudity.”
Williams’ passion for filmmaking stems from a desire to educate and entertain through storytelling. As a producer, screenwriter, and actress, she’s created over 21 films, including Fishers of Men, Irony of Life, The Engagement, and The Accusation.
Balancing her roles as a mother and businesswoman has been challenging, but Williams remains committed to being involved in her children’s lives. “I hope they don’t start buying properties in my name!” she jokes.
When asked about cosmetic surgery, Sophia remains open but realistic. “I haven’t done it yet, but maybe in the future. For now, just my tummy would be touched,” she reveals.
