South African billionaire Xolane Ndhlovu repatriates Ms Primrose’s body from Nigeria
The family of the 29 year-old makeup artist Primrose Vale, who died in Nigeria during the festive sighed a sigh of relief following a R100 000 support from the philanthropist Xolane Ndhlovu
The support from the billionaire businessman who is serving time at Leeuwkop Correctional Service for an attempted murder came at a time when all hope was lost for the family.
Vale died on 22 December 2024 during her festive season visit to friends in Nigeria. Her father Orlando, said he only found out a week later that she had died of Malaria in Lagos.
After hearing the news, the pensioner was informed that he would need funds to bring his daughter’s body back to South Africa.
All efforts by the family to raise the more than R97 000 needed to cover the repatriation costs including a public campaign for donations were unsuccessful as the young lady's body remains in Lagos, Nigeria.
The family was overwhelmed when they received a call informing them that one patriotic citizen with a golden heart refused to let their daughter be buried in a foreign country.
In reaction the sister of the deceased said “On behalf of Vale’s family, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the generous financial support towards the repatriation of Rose.
Although we do not know the individual who contributed these funds, we believe that both God and Rose are aware of his kindness. May this person never lack anything, and may God bless him abundantly for his compassion.
While we mourn the loss of our daughter and sister, we find comfort in knowing that she will receive a dignified burial”
“In addition to the monetary support the DAFRI GROUP LIMITED, a public company owned by Ndhlovu which boasts presence across (4) continents through its Nigerian subsidiary DafriTechnology provided a representative for the family which did not know anyone in Nigeria”.
A person familiar with the matter said.
The deceased, who worked as a makeup artist in Cape Town, travelled to Nigeria to celebrate her birthday. She travelled with a friend her father was allegedly unaware of.
The incident divided social media, with South Africans questioning how her father could allow her to leave a 10 year old child and visit a foreign country without leaving behind details of her trip, her host and where she would be staying. Others are using the incident as a warning to local girls against human trafficking.
Primrose’s death started trending on social media days after Christmas eve when videos of her and her alleged Nigerian host were circulated. In the videos she is seen dining with the man on a luxury boat.
In another video she can be seen twerking against the same man, who was rapping songs about how he is enjoying life. And in all the videos, she seemed happy as the man fondled her.
However, upon news of her death, the same man came to social media and vehemently denied that she was visiting him. He said in a series of posts that Primrose was in Nigeria to visit some man, not him. He was only dining with her because he knew her from his previous visits to South Africa.
But in all his posts he failed to give details of the mysterious man that Primrose was visiting. She was working as a makeup artist in Cape Town, and her mysterious host allegedly paid for her to fly to Nigeria. The visit was allegedly for her birthday on Christmas Day.
Xolane Ndhlovu born in Burgersfort, Mpumalanga is a South African newest billionaire who has been behind bars for allegedly shooting a guy in 2013 in what he claimed was a self defense after he received a tip- off that the guy had planned a hit on him.
He has since turned his life around over the years, in that despite being behind bars he continued to support social causes which has made him in the eyes of many as a community builder rather than an ex-convict
While incarcerated Ndhlovu donated $1 million dollars (R18.8 million) to Africans affected by the war in Ukraine, R500 000 to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Solidarity Fund for Covid19, launched an educational fund for the underprivileged students across Africa.
He also built a R1 million house for a family in Eastern Cape amongst other social projects like the Save Mpho Business campaign on X and The South African Entrepreneurship for Ex-Offenders.
A source close to the businessman’s family said he became eligible for parole (3) years ago however that was impaired by few elements within the department of correctional services whom Ndhlovu has taken to court (15) times and won against (9) times.
Some of the court orders seen by this publication include one where the department of correctional services and the SAPS were interdicted from extorting money from the businessman which came after he was given a bank account belonging to one of the officials in 2019 to deposit R100 000.
Nhlovu who reportedly completed his LLB behind bars recently launched an urgent bid in the Constitutional Court where he asked the Apex court among other things to declare his continued incarceration unlawful, order a criminal prosecution of the Minister of Justice & Correctional Services together with his National Commissioner over fraud and extortion.
He also wants the apex court to hold the Judge President of Gauteng Division and his deputy who are cited as 1st and second Respondents on the matter accountable for the unlawful conducts of their judges who supported the department in their criminal activities.
“The 1st respondent is directly responsible for the over sighting of the conduct of the Judge(s) within his jurisdiction and has a direct interest in this matter insofer all the contravening and prejudicial decisions of the judges were carried out under his supervision and that he failed to promote the spirit and objectives of the Bill of Rights as enshrined in section 165 of the Constitution.” Read the notice of the motion.
Xolane Ndhlovu is estimated to be worth over R6.5 billion. His foray into blockchain technology propelled his personal fortune to R6 billion as of 2021 stemming from his holdings in Binance (BNB) and bets in tech focused startups like DafriBank and Solana.
It raises the question if Xolane Ndhlovu with hundreds of employees, who should be out contributing to our shrinking economy deserves to be kept in prison when he has already served his time behind bars
