Tinubu sacks UNIABUJA VC,

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sacked Aisha Maikudi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, now known as Yakubu Gowon University.

Maikudi’s sack was made known hours after she presided over a matriculation ceremony in the school.

Her appointment has been fraught with controversy, with some lecturers saying she occupied the position illegally.

In her position, Tinubu appointed Professor Lar Patricia Manko as Acting Vice Chancellor for a six-month term, emphasizing that she would not be eligible to apply for the substantive Vice Chancellor position when it becomes available.

Tinubu also removed Professor Polycarp Emeka Chigbu from his position as Acting Vice-Chancellor at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

Chigbu was supposed to end his tenure on February 14, but Tinubu named Professor Oguejiofu T. Ujam as the new Acting Vice Chancellor of UNN.

Just like the case of UNIABUJA, the Acting UNN VC would be in office for six months and would not be eligible to apply for the permanent position.
