US govt: Disclosure of social media history for visa applicants mandatory

The government of the United States has reaffirmed that all persons applying for its visa must give details of their social media activity in the past five years.
In a post on X, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria stated that applicants are required to list every username or handle they have used across all social media platforms within that period on the DS-160 visa application form.
The Mission said that applicants must certify the authenticity of the information provided before signing and submitting the form.
It warned that withholding social media details could lead to visa denial and make. the applicant ineligible for visa applications in the future.
