President Buhari meets Emefiele, Tambuwal, Bagudu over current scarcity of naira
As the scarcity of the naira continues to bite harder, leaving Nigerians in more mess than expected, President Muhammadu Buhari has held a high level meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele over the scarcity of the currency in the nation.
Sokoto State Governor of Sokoto Aminu Tambuwal, who doubles as chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) also attended the crunch meeting.
TMY Newspapers can report that Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu; Chief of Defence Staff, Lucky Irabor and chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Abdulrasheed Bawa were also in attendance at the meeting, which was held at the council chamber of the state house in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday.
However at the end of the meeting, none of the parties in attendance agreed to talk to reporters.
Emefiele also refused to answer queries related to a possible amendment of the terms of the naira redesign policy.
TMY Newspapers recalls that president Buhari had on February 3 met with the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors over the naira redesign policy and its adverse effects on Nigerians.
During the meeting, the Progressives Governors Forum had urged President Buhari to allow both the old and new notes to co-exist.
