Super-talented Nollywood actress and media personality, Nancy Isime has triggered online debates after sharing her frank views on the importance of money in relationships and marriage.
While appearing on the Tea With Tay podcast hosted by Taymesan, Nancy argued that although love matters, it alone cannot ensure what she calls a “fantastic life.”
The discussion began when Taymesan suggested that people can still lead wonderful lives without wealth. However, Nancy challenged this idea, asking how life can be considered fantastic when rent is unpaid, children’s school fees are overdue, and there is no food at home.
“When there’s rent pending and the children’s school fees, and there’s no food in the house, what’s fantastic about life?” she asked.
In response to suggestions that her current success might influence her opinions, Nancy highlighted that she did not grow up in a privileged home and understands financial hardship firsthand.
“It’s not like I come from a privileged background. You do know that, right? So you’re not even talking to somebody who has seen money all her life,” she stated.
Clarifying her viewpoint, the actress emphasised that she was not claiming love cannot exist without money. She said that love can still be there, but financial struggles make it hard to describe life as ideal.
“I’m not saying you should have all the money in the world,” she said, adding that her idea of a fantastic life becomes questionable when someone is constantly in debt or unable to afford their basic needs.
