At 30, I don’t believe in perfect love anymore— BBN’s Sheggz

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Sheggz has opened up about how his understanding of love has changed over the years, saying he no longer believes that love is about finding the perfect person.

Reflecting on his journey, Sheggz said, “I used to think love was about finding the right person. But at 30, I don’t believe that anymore. I’ve had relationships that looked amazing on the outside, and I’ve had relationships that completely humbled me. But every single one taught me something.”

Speaking on the lessons he has learned, he added, “One of the biggest lessons that I learned is, love doesn’t just expose the other person. It also exposes you. Your ego, your communication, your insecurities, your patience, and the parts of you that you thought were perfect but need working on.”

He also admitted that his idea of an ideal relationship has evolved with time.

“I used to think the best relationships were relationships with people that didn’t challenge me. But now I’ve realized that the best relationships are the relationships that challenge you to be the best version of yourself, constantly.”

According to Sheggz, he is no longer swayed by chemistry alone but now values consistency, healthy communication and accountability in a relationship.

“So these days, I’m less impressed by chemistry, but I’m more impressed by consistency. Can we communicate when we’re upset? Can we take accountability when we’re wrong? Can we protect each other’s peace instead of just trying to prove that you’re right or I’m right?”

Concluding, the reality TV star said, “So at 30, I don’t think love is finding somebody that’s perfect. I think love is two imperfect people coming together to grow, respect each other, and build something special together. And yeah, that’s the type of situation I’m trying to build. Not perfection, just my version of what’s perfect, basically.”
