Police Arrest 10 Suspected Cultists, Recover Gun, Charms in Akwa Ibom

Operation targets suspected cult activity as security forces seize firearm and other items

Police in Akwa Ibom State have arrested 10 people suspected of belonging to cult groups during an operation aimed at disrupting criminal activities across the state. The arrests were made as officers intensified efforts to tackle cult-related violence and other security threats.

 

 

The suspects were apprehended during coordinated operations in different parts of the state, according to the police. Officers also recovered a firearm and charms from the suspects, which have been retained as exhibits while investigations continue.

 

 

The command said the arrests followed intelligence-led efforts to identify and disrupt groups suspected of engaging in criminal activities. The suspects are expected to assist investigators in establishing their alleged roles and determining whether they are connected to other cult-related incidents in the state.

 

 

Police said investigations are ongoing and that the suspects would be prosecuted where sufficient evidence is established. The command also urged residents to continue providing useful information to security agencies to help prevent crime and maintain peace across Akwa Ibom.
