Eight members of one family reportedly killed as attackers move from house to house during overnight assault

Survivors of a deadly overnight attack in Plateau State have recounted how gunmen moved from house to house, killing residents who were asleep. The attack left several people dead and injured, with residents describing the incident as a night of horror for the affected community.

One resident, Fangwsak James, said eight members of a family were killed in one compound, while a two-year-old child was left as the sole survivor. The child, who sustained gunshot wounds to the leg and hip, was reportedly found after being left for dead.

Another survivor, Shedrack Ayuba, said he lost his wife and four children in the attack. Ayuba, who was keeping watch with local vigilantes when the shooting began from different directions, said he attempted to escape through a building but was shot in the leg.

The attack has renewed concerns over insecurity in Plateau State, where communities have continued to face deadly violence. Reports from the incident said at least 25 people were killed, with women and children among the victims, heightening fears of further violence and reprisals in the troubled region.
