Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has signed a new contract with the club that runs until June 2027.
The midfielder joined Leicester from Belgian side Genk in January 2017 and had been linked with a move away from the Foxes this summer, but has instead put pen to paper on a new deal and is now looking forward to working with manager Steve Cooper.
“I’ve had a chance to speak with [Cooper]. I spoke to him during the holidays when he came in,” Ndidi told the club’s official website.
“He had some good ideas to share with me, so it was really, really, really amazing and I’m looking forward to working with him. He’s a great guy, he’s funny. I look forward to working with him, it’s very exciting,”
“I feel happy to be a part of this and then I can’t wait to get started. It’s very exciting [to be back in the Premier League]. We know this is where we belong. We’ll try our best to keep it that way. We want to be here and we want to stay here.
“It’s an exciting group with the qualities we have. The mentality, with the coaches and the staff, it’s really amazing. I know it’s not going to be an easy season, but I think with the players we have and the mentality, we’re really up for it.
“There’s unfinished business that we have to continue.”
Ndidi has featured in 273 matches across all competitions for Leicester and was part of the side that won the FA Cup in 2020/21 for the first time in their history and then the FA Community Shield.
He also played a pivotal role in their Championship winning season in 2023/24, scoring four times and assisting five goals in 32 appearances.
Leicester start their pre-season schedule with a fixture against Shrewsbury Town on 23 July before opening their 2024/25 Premier League campaign against Tottenham Hotspur at King Power Stadium on 19 August.
