‘I remain dedicated to holding govt accountable’ – Okinbaloye addresses sack rumour at Channels TV

Popular broadcast journalist, Seun Okinbaloye, has dismissed the rumour that he was sacked at Channels Television.

Okinbaloye is the host of Channels Television’s flagship programmes, Politics Today and Sunday Politics.

He had been away for several weeks, with many Nigerians claiming on social media that he had been relieved of his duties at the 24-hour news channel which has its headquarters in Lagos.

Okinbaloye’s colleague, Geoffrey Uzono, had been deputising for him in the last few weeks, and despite pictures of him vacationing in the United States surfacing online, followers of the programmes were not persuaded.

The journalist returned to the screen on Monday, and refuted the notion. He said he had spent time away for “reflection and growth”.

Okinbaloye thanked Nigerians for the faith in him and the media organisation and reiterated his commitment to holding the government accountable and propagating the truth, for the development of the nation as enshrined in the constitution.
