Vinicius Junior said it will be “brutal” playing alongside new Real Madrid man Kylian Mbappe as he made a “difficult” comparison with Jude Bellingham.
Mbappe finally made his long-awaited switch to Madrid after leaving Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer, with the 25-year-old now gearing up to make his first-team debut. Brazilian winger Vinicius has vowed to “take care” of Mbappe to help him adapt, and while admitting it can be “difficult” joining a new team, he says 2023 signing Jude Bellingham showed it’s still very possible to hit the ground running.
He told Real Madrid TV that having the Frenchman as a companion, “Is going to be brutal, I hope we can do great things.”
Vinicius added: “We have to take care of him and do everything possible so that he can adapt as quickly as possible. It is always difficult to join another club, but we already did it with Jude [Bellingham], who arrived last season and has shone. Hopefully we can repeat it with Kylian [Mbappe].”
Bellingham was a revelation for Los Blancos following his move from Borussia Dortmund, scoring 23 goals and bagging 13 assists on their way to La Liga and Champions League glory. With Mbappe in attack alongside Vinicius and Rodrygo, Real may have the most lethal frontline in world football.
Madrid take on Europa League winners Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup next Wednesday, before kickstarting their league campaign away to Mallorca on Sunday, August 18. Mbappe may get a chance to shine in both those matches after his summer break.
