Ayra Starr, Mohbad, Odumodublvck lead 17th Headies nominations


The excitement is building up in the Nigerian music scene following the release of the nominations list of the 17th edition of The Headies.
Leading the list is Odumodublvck, Mohbad, Qing Madi, and Ayra Starr.
The music award show organisers announced the nominee list via through a post on X.
The post showed that only songs and music videos released between April 1, 2023 and July 31, 2024 were considered for nominations.
“Only music materials including shingles, videos, video live recordings, EPs & albums released & distributed on digital streaming platforms, & physical music media (cassettes, CDs & vinyl) within the year in review (April 1, 2023 & July 31,2024) were considered for nomination,” it reads.
Rapper Odumodublvck got eight nominations including in the ‘Best Rap Single’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ categories.
Ayra Starr and Shallipopi followed with six nominations while Qing Madi clinched five.
Late singer Mohbad got four nods in the ‘Afrobeats Single of the Year’, ‘Best Collaboration’ and ‘Best Street-hop Artiste’ categories.
Zerry DL, Taves, Kaestyles and Llona will battle it out in the ‘Rookie of the year’ category.
The 17th edition of The Headies is expected to take place on April 5, focusing on the music of 2024.
