Woman pulled alive from rubble after Venezuela earthquakes

A woman has been pulled alive from rubble after two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela on Wednesday.

Rescuers are searching for survivors in collapsed buildings in Caracas and the state of La Guaira, and people have been heard calling for help from under the debris

No fewer than 235 people have been killed and 4,300 injured, with many more feared dead and others left homeless or too afraid to stay in damaged buildings

A doctor in La Guaira tells the BBC the two main hospitals in the state are “completely overwhelmed”, with a “critical lack” of medical supplies

The quakes, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, hit a minute apart, and the second was the strongest to hit Venezuela since 1900
