Osborn Umahi Says Ohaozara Is Going ‘International’ as APC Presents Flag Ahead of Council Poll

Osborn Nweze Umahi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate for Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has generated reactions after declaring that the council area is moving beyond the local level and “going international.”
Umahi made the remark during an APC campaign and flag presentation event in Ohaozara ahead of the forthcoming local government election in the state. Recent reports from the campaign confirm that he was formally presented with the APC flag as the party’s candidate for the council election.
Speaking before supporters, Umahi expressed confidence in the future of Ohaozara and appeared to use the “international government” expression to underline his ambition to raise the profile and development of the local government area.
The statement has since attracted attention on social media, with some interpreting it as political campaign enthusiasm while others questioned the meaning of describing a constitutionally recognised local government area as an “international government.”
Ohaozara remains one of the local government areas of Ebonyi State; Umahi’s statement therefore appears to have been political rhetoric rather than an announcement of any change in its legal status.
Umahi emerged as the APC chairmanship candidate after securing the party’s ticket during its January primary.
The forthcoming election will determine whether he succeeds in converting the momentum surrounding his campaign into victory at the polls.
