Apple’s September 9 Event Expected to Feature Foldable iPhone and iPhone 18 Pro

Apple’s upcoming “Surprise and Shine” event could mark the beginning of a major new era for the company, with reports pointing to new iPhone models, wearables and possibly Apple’s first foldable smartphone.

Apple has officially scheduled a major product event for September 9, 2026, under the theme “Surprise and Shine.” The event will take place at 10 a.m. Pacific Time and is expected to focus heavily on the next generation of iPhones. While Apple has not revealed the products in advance, reports suggest the launch could be one of the company’s most significant smartphone events in years.

The biggest expected announcement is Apple’s long-rumored first foldable iPhone. Reports suggest the device could introduce Apple to the growing foldable smartphone market, which has largely been dominated by companies such as Samsung. Analysts believe the foldable device could become a major premium product for Apple and potentially offer a larger display experience when opened.

Apple is also widely expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Reports indicate that Apple may change its traditional release strategy, with some standard iPhone models potentially arriving later. This would place greater attention on the company’s premium devices and its possible new foldable model during the September event.

Beyond smartphones, the event could include updates to Apple’s wearable lineup. The Apple Watch Series 12, a new Apple Watch Ultra, and updated AirPods are among the products being discussed ahead of the launch. However, these remain expectations rather than confirmed announcements, as Apple has only officially confirmed the event itself.

The September event will also be closely watched because it comes during a major leadership transition at Apple. John Ternus, who succeeded Tim Cook as CEO, is expected to oversee his first major Apple product launch. The event could therefore provide an early indication of how Apple plans to approach hardware innovation, artificial intelligence and the increasingly competitive global smartphone market under its new leadership.
