Actor Akin Olaiya’s Estranged Wife Speaks on Marriage Breakdown, Alleges Domestic Abuse
The estranged wife of Nollywood actor Akin Olaiya has spoken publicly about the collapse of their marriage, alleging that she endured domestic violence, emotional distress, and prolonged frustration before deciding to leave the relationship.
Addressing ongoing discussions surrounding their separation, she disclosed that she and the actor have been apart since last year, stressing that their marriage had effectively ended long before the matter became a subject of public conversation.
According to her, many people have misunderstood the circumstances surrounding their split, with some assuming she left the marriage without justification. She maintained that no woman would willingly walk away from a happy and stable home without compelling reasons.
She explained that she married Olaiya out of love despite their age difference and entered the union with hopes of building a successful family. However, she said the relationship eventually deteriorated due to challenges that unfolded behind closed doors.
While declining to provide detailed accounts of the issues that plagued the marriage, she insisted that there were serious factors that informed her decision to leave.
The woman also expressed disappointment over Olaiya’s subsequent marriage to someone she described as her former best friend, suggesting that the development sheds light on some of the circumstances surrounding the breakdown of their union.
Despite the public interest in the matter, she said she has chosen not to disclose everything that transpired during the marriage, noting that her values and upbringing prevent her from publicly vilifying her former husband.
She added that she has entrusted the situation to God and is now focused on healing, rebuilding her life, and moving forward.
