Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) have rescued two young Fulani herderswho were abducted by suspected kidnappers while grazing cattle in a forest along the Ondo–Edo State boundary. The victims were reportedly taken from the Owo forest after they failed to return home, prompting their families to alert the security outfit.

According to the Ondo State Commander of Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, operatives immediately launched a search-and-rescue mission in collaboration with the victims’ parents. The team tracked the abductors to a camp deep inside the forest, where the suspects reportedly fled after discovering that security personnel had located their hideout, leaving the victims behind unharmed. The operation also led to the recovery of the cattle that had gone missing during the abduction.

Adeleye described the rescue as another successful intelligence-led operation, noting that information provided by local residents played a crucial role in locating the victims. He reiterated that the Amotekun Corps remains committed to protecting every resident of Ondo State regardless of ethnicity or background, stressing that the agency would continue to pursue anyone involved in criminal activities.

The latest rescue comes amid ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb kidnapping and violent crimes along forests bordering Ondo and neighbouring states, areas frequently exploited by criminal gangs. Authorities urged residents to continue supporting security operations by providing timely intelligence, saying stronger collaboration with local communities remains key to preventing future attacks and ensuring public safety.
