Nuhu Dahiru was apprehended in Maiduguri after allegedly using a fake identity to obtain money from unsuspecting victims

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested Nuhu Dahiru in Borno State for allegedly impersonating an EFCC official and obtaining N3 million by false pretence. The arrest was carried out by operatives of the commission’s Maiduguri Zonal Directorate following credible intelligence about his activities.
Dahiru was arrested at Tashan Bama, along Bama Road in Maiduguri, after investigators received information that he had allegedly been presenting himself as an EFCC officer. The commission said he used the false identity to deceive unsuspecting members of the public and collect money from them.
According to the EFCC, N3 million was recovered from the suspect at the time of his arrest. The agency said the operation was part of its efforts to curb fraudulent activities involving individuals who impersonate its officials to defraud members of the public.
The commission said investigations are ongoing and Dahiru will be charged to court after the process is concluded. The EFCC has also urged members of the public to be cautious of individuals who falsely claim to represent the agency.
