According to the Ugandan socialite, women whose partners prevent them from working but also fail to provide for their basic needs should not hesitate to seek support elsewhere. She argued that some men insist their partners stay unemployed, only to abandon their responsibility of catering for them, leaving the women financially dependent and struggling.
Zari said that in such situations, if another person is willing to offer both emotional and financial support, the woman should not feel guilty about accepting it, since her partner has failed to fulfil his role.
In her most controversial statement, she declared that cheating on a man who neither provides for nor takes care of his partner should not be regarded as infidelity, but rather as “self-defence.”
