Court Remands Blogger Over Alleged False Reports Targeting Ex-Abia Governor
A court has ordered the remand of blogger Promise Idume in a correctional facility over allegations of publishing false and defamatory reports against former Abia State Governor Theodore Orji.
The case follows a petition accusing the blogger of circulating fabricated claims capable of damaging the former governor’s reputation, with prosecutors insisting the matter amounts to criminal defamation and cyber-related offences.
According to court proceedings, the prosecution argued that the disputed publications contained false information presented as factual reports.
